Clearly, the wide range of needs of adults with learning disabilities and the desire for social inclusion is not met by traditional day centres. SummerCare offers a much needed change in emphasis in the range and locations of activities and how each person is supported.Our approach differs to that of traditional day centres. Our principal aim is to enable people to lead full and purposeful lives through a Person Centred Planned programme of activities - Social, Vocational, Educational and Leisure - which make use of regular community facilities as far as possible. Our approach is in keeping with the ethos of Valuing People, since it allows individuals to exercise their rights and have choices about how they live from day to day and in the future.
